Public Consultation for an R18 game rating in AU

Post by Draco_Argentum »

The federal attorney general is holding a public consultation about creating an R rating for games in Australia. If you're Australian and play games you should respond to it.

Meanwhile operation "censor the entire internet" apparently has the green light.

If they block my favorite porn site I'll be so pissed.

With any luck, everyone will just use a proxy. Or pay those Russian dudes (or Anonymous) to hack in and take it out.

Well obviously, beating it before it's put in motion is a better idea.

It's actually critical to get it up if the censorship garbage goes in, because any interactive content has to be 15+ not 18+!

Actually its critical that it gets stopped or it will never get repealed. Remember that Labor voted against the current blacklist and yet came up with this disgusting tripe. The liberals are only against the filter because Labor opposed it, its actually just an expansion of what they created last time around, they'll never dismantle it.

Be careful of blindly voting Green too. The candidate they put forward for the Higgins by-election is one of the earliest proponents of setting up a filter. Check the history of whoever is on your ballot.

They way to kill the internet filter would be to destroy the Family First party.

It exists exclusively because of and for them.

If there was no family first senator we wouldn't be having this.

Alternately we need to elect their direct counter on this and other issues.

At least one senator for the Sex Party for every family first senator would help fix this .

I like the Sex Party. And I oppose Fascist First on everything, even stooping so low as to troll their "Hey, here's how you vote for us" people who hang outside the election place like drug dealers at a playground.

"Oh, ja, ve haff heard of you back in der Motherland, ja! ZIEG HEIL, ja?"

Not mature by any stretch, but pissing them off gives me some small satisfaction. Still, on the off chance it does go through, and the proxy thing doesn't happen, I should get my passport in order and see about moving to a less right-wing-loonie country. Shame that the only EU nation I can get citizenship in (barring marriage) is the UK, which is just as bad.

I have EU citizenship. Hehehehehehe.

On a small Mediterranean island. Great swimming. The family owns a couple of million euros worth of land out there.

Of course that land is mostly slums and all ruled over by my insane gunslinging pirate uncle. So I'm not going there to live any time soon. I don't want to get shot. Or worse. Much worse.

Not yet, they're deferring blocking games until after the consultation I linked.
